Today Apple announced the iPhone and with it, the eventual death of paid ringtone and wallpaper services. Now people will be able to use any song in their iTunes library as a ringtone and any photo they can find as a wallpaper. With a cheaper iPhone Nano model likely in the next few years the ringtone industry’s days are numbered.
A handful of HDTVs, including the new Sony XBR2-3 Bravia line, are for some reason unable to handle the Wii’s progressive scan signal via component which results in the screen distorting or even blacking out completely. Nintendo has yet to acknowledge the problem, but hopefully spreading the word will get their attention.

In Quarter 1 Nintendo expects 20 Nintendo titles, 7 Turbografx games and 9 classic Sega Mega Drive titles. Mario Kart 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Street Fighter II: World Warrior, Super Probotector and the hugely popular Super Mario World.
I heard a familiar riff coming from the next room. Cheap Trick’s “Surrender” shook me almost awake (no coffee at this point) as I realized the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II was being played less than ten feet from me.
One retailer spoke to me on condition of anonymity, and broke down his version of the situation. “It’s not that we’ve gotten more PS3s than Wiis, it’s just that no one wants them. We’ve seen a few returned. We have four in the store right now,” he said.
