Judge sides with RIAA: file sharing apps lead to direct infringement
As the judicial system grapples with the RIAA’s claim that merely running file sharing software can constitute copyright infringement, one judge sides with the RIAA.

In a shocking development, PSP homebrew icon and pioneer Fanjita has announced his retirement from the homebrew scene, citing trust issues as the main reason.
Acer Agrees to Acquire Gateway
Taiwan’s Acer Inc. said it had reached an agreement to acquire Gateway Inc. in a deal that values the U.S. company at about $710 million and pushes Acer past Lenovo Group Ltd. as the world’s No. 3 vendor of personal computers.
Crysis demo being released on September 25; to include “huge surprise”
According to EA, the first Crysis demo will be available on September 25, 2007. The demo will feature the entire first level, “Contact,” as well as a “huge surprise from Crytek.” Finally, PC gamers have a reason to look forward to 9-25-07.

Compiz Fusion Tray Icon
An excellent feature of Beryl was the tray icon that allowed users to easily switch window managers and decorators. A similar icon for Compiz Fusion is now available but is not included in most repositories.
Homes in Finland get 100 Mbps internet connection
TeliaSonera Finland and Vuosaaren Kiinteistöt have agreed that Vuosaari’s all approximately 3,000 rental flats will be provided with fibre optic based broadband connections enabling transmission rates of up to 100 Mbps. The connections will be provided during the year 2007.
