Most of the time, video games are purely for entertainment purposes, and don’t really go very far beyond that. Once in a great while, though, a video game will come along that gets under your skin, into your blood, and won’t let you go, for whatever reason. These are the games that did that for me.

Three months ago, the popular private BitTorrent tracker OiNK was effectively shut down in a joint effort by Dutch and British law enforcement. Today, the bail date for OiNK admin Alan Ellis has been extended for the second time, until the 6th of May.

She used Windows for two weeks and discovered how to simultaniously contract both spyware and viruses, not to mention had constant problems with printing and losing connectivity. On Thursday night, Kathryn and I unboxed my latest Ebay acquisition: an Apple //c. There are many vintage Apple II computers available for auction, but this one is special: It’s never been opened. Ever. It hasn’t seen the light of day since before it was shipped on May 5th, 1988.

Over the weekend, I checked out three versions of the Transformers movie: standard-def and high-def instantaneous downloads to the Vudu box with 4-Mbps net connection, as well as the HD DVD of the movie, playing through the Xbox 360.

Copies of Super Smash Brothers Brawl are flying off of Japanese store shelves with numbers reporting that an 80% sell-through of initial stock has been sold. This is about 500,000 copies.
